The Road That Changed Everything
We’re Jon and Rich, and Nomads Trekkn began with a simple idea: stop waiting for someday.

After years of building careers, working long hours in hospitality, and squeezing travel into the spaces between responsibilities, we decided it was time to choose a different path. In 2023, we traded a traditional home for a fifth wheel and an open map.
​
What started as a full-time RV adventure has grown into something bigger — a way to share the places we go, the life we’re building, and the lessons we’re learning along the way.
Building Our Desert Basecamp
The Arizona ranch has become the place where our road life and future plans meet. It’s where we’re slowly building an off-grid setup, learning as we go, testing ideas, solving problems, and creating a place that feels like ours.

Some days it’s progress. Some days it’s dust, wind, and figuring out what not to do next time. Either way, it’s part of the story.

Usually found behind a lens or a notebook, capturing the heart of off-grid life and the people who pass through the ranch.
From solar and water to fences and fixes, he keeps the ranch and rigs running so the adventure never stops.
Professional snuggler and sunshine nap expert, making sure everyone at camp feels relaxed and at home.
First to spot visitors, coyotes, and the ever-invading leaf, he keeps watch over the land while the crew works.
Always part of the journey:
Kodiak, our gentle Great Dane, was one of our original travel companions and part of the beginning of this chapter. We said goodbye to him in June 2024, and this winter we also said goodbye to Northman, our road cat and tiny king of the RV. They’re no longer riding along with us, but they’ll always be part of the Nomads Trekkn story.
Our Story on the Road
We’ve been together since 1997, building a life rooted in family, careers, and the routines so many people know well. For years, travel was something we squeezed into short vacations between long work weeks, weekends, holidays, and responsibilities.
Over time, life reminded us how fragile tomorrow can be. Losing parents far too young changed the way we looked at time, priorities, and the idea of waiting for “someday.”
Choosing the road wasn’t about escaping life. It was about stepping more fully into it.
Now, Nomads Trekkn is where we share that life — full-time RV travel, remote work, off-grid projects, Trail & Ember candle days, national parks, small towns, campfires, challenges, and the beauty of building something different.
Our hope is simple: to inspire others to explore life beyond the map.
