Our third stop on this unforgettable summer adventure with Daxton took us to the breathtaking Grand Teton National Park. We spent an entire week soaking in the majesty of this incredible landscape while boondocking in the national forest just outside the park. Our campground was tucked away down a long, winding dirt road, nestled right next to a peaceful river. The setting was serene, but what made it truly special was the surprise visitor we had shortly after setting up camp—a moose emerged from the woods and put on a show that left us all in awe.
The Tetons themselves were a sight to behold, towering over us with their rugged peaks and commanding presence. It’s impossible to describe the feeling of standing in their shadow, surrounded by such raw, natural beauty. During our stay, we hiked to Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point, where the views were nothing short of spectacular. The hike around Taggart Lake was another highlight, with the crystal-clear waters reflecting the towering mountains in a picture-perfect scene.
One day, on our way back from a hike and a visit to the park’s visitor center, we stumbled upon a group of national park horses feeding in a pasture. These beautiful creatures were so friendly, and they let us pet them, making for a sweet and memorable encounter. The simple joy of connecting with these animals in such a stunning setting was one of the many moments that made our stay in Grand Teton so special.
We also took a day to explore Jackson Hole, a charming town with a unique blend of rustic and modern vibes. It was the perfect place to wander around, take in the local culture, and enjoy the laid-back atmosphere.
The weather during our stay was quite hot, with temperatures soaring into the mid-90s during the day. However, the nights brought a welcome relief as the temperatures dropped, making for comfortable and restful sleep.
Grand Teton National Park was everything we hoped for and more—a place where the grandeur of nature is on full display, and where every moment feels like a page out of a storybook. We left with our hearts full and our spirits rejuvenated, eager for the next adventure.
