Our summer RV trip kicked off with a fantastic week at Devil’s Tower National Monument, a destination that left us both awe-inspired and grateful for the time we spent together. This was our first stop on our summer journey without our grandson, Daxton, and it turned out to be a perfect blend of adventure and relaxation.
Campground Comfort and Scenic Hikes
We set up camp at the National Park campground, which quickly became our cozy home base for the week. Surrounded by the rugged beauty of Devil’s Tower, we took full advantage of the incredible hiking opportunities. Over the course of our stay, we tackled three fantastic hikes, each offering its own unique perspective of the iconic monolith and the surrounding landscape. The trails ranged from leisurely walks to more challenging routes, making it a great mix for us.
Evenings of Fun and Togetherness
As the sun set each day, we gathered around the campfire to unwind. We enjoyed delicious meals, shared stories, and played games that sparked laughter and friendly competition. The campfire evenings were a highlight of our trip, providing a perfect way to bond and create lasting memories.
A Dramatic Weather Event
Two days before we were set to leave, we experienced a dramatic weather event—a rainless thunderstorm that brought heavy winds. The storm was powerful enough to take down some large tree limbs and powerlines in the campground, reminding us of nature’s raw power. While the storm caused a bit of disruption, it also added a thrilling element to our adventure and gave us an unexpected story to share.
Overall, our week at Devil’s Tower was a wonderful start to our summer RV trip. From hiking and exploring to enjoying simple pleasures around the campfire, it was a time well spent. We left with full hearts, eager for the next leg of our journey.
